Role-playing games (known also as RPGs) are based on more traditional board games like Dungeons & Dragons. In most of these games player can take a role of one or more adventurers who specialize in a specific skill (combat, magic, stealth, etc.). Many role-playing games force players to travel through the game world, usually populated with various monsters. While doing so, players can access more important locations, such as different towns, caves, and dungeons.
Gameplay elements typically associated with RPGs, are: character development (through the experience points), exploration, and gathering of loot. The most well-known RPG franchises of all time are: Baldur’s Gate, The Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy, Witcher, and Dragon Age.
Games Republic. Only top role-playing titles for PC and consoles. Check them out now! When people say “FPS”, they usually think about either Doom or Quake. The latter, albeit much younger, was definitely the more “active” on the market which resulted in many installments in the series. It’s one of the most iconic titles in the FPS genre, with millions of loyal fans across the world.
Quake is a series of first-person shooters, starting with the game of the same name. In first Quake (released in 1996) players must find their way through various maze-like, dark, medieval environments while battling a variety of monsters using a wide array of weapons. Quake II (1997) and Quake 4 (2005) are equally dark but unlike Quake set in the future where humans are in conflict with a cybernetic race known only as the Strogg. The third installment in the series, Quake III Arena (1999), was a multiplayer-focused FPS and a response to the increasingly popular Unreal Tournament game.
Quake games are iconic and even now, after all these years, they can bring a smile on gamer’s face. A title definitely worth trying!Hide
