Worms video games can be described as a mix of artillery and turn-based games. Every turn they can use one tool or weapon available to them to attack and kill their opponents' worms, winning the game.

The series quickly became popular and was described by the gaming press as a mix of Scorch, Cannon Fodder, and Lemmings. The most popular games in the entire franchise are Worms (1995), Worms 2 (1997), Worms Armageddon (1999), and Worms 3D (2003). Few Worms-themed spin-offs have also been released, including Onlineworms (2001), Worms Blast (2002), and Worms Golf (2004). Nowadays, Worms are published mostly on mobile devices and OS X platform.
