Mortal Kombat is a legendary video game franchise. Nobody can deny that! Created and developed by Midway in 1992, the series quickly amassed a very big and loyal fanbase. Other spin-offs include comic book series, a card game and even a distinct line of toys. Mortal Kombat is currently one of the most successful fighting franchises in the history of video games (along with Street Fighter and Tekken) as well as one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time. It goes without saying that Mortal Kombat has a reputation for high levels of gore and violence.
