Who doesn’t know what a PC is? Personal Computers are one of the most defining features of our time. Machines that are great for work, for fun and for studying. But what PC really is? The Wiki says it’s a “multi-purpose electronic computer whose size, capabilities and price make it feasible for individual use”. But it gets better: “Personal Computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician”. Computers were originally invented to “compute” and solve complex mathematical problems. Today, everything is different and their original purpose is actually the least important one. Instead, they are used for gathering data (internet), entertainment (video games, movies, music, etc) and work. Since the early 1990s, Microsoft operating systems and Intel hardware have dominated the PC market. There are alternatives to Microsoft Windows operating system but they still occupy a minority share of the industry. These include Apple's iOS and free open-source operating systems (e.g. Linux and Chrome OS).
First-person shooters (also known as FPS) are a subgenre of action video games, focused on player's speed, reaction time, and precision. The genre’s core element is avatar holding a long-range weapon and a common resource found in most FPS games is ammunition. The typical goal of FPS games is shooting opponents in order to proceed through the missions. The player’s character must avoid being killed in the process. FPS is a genre of video games where players have somewhat limited spatial control of their characters, and the focus is almost entirely on their enemies defeat. The best FPS franchises of all time are Doom, Wolfenstein, Counter Strike, Far Cry, and Unreal Tournament, and recently: Battlefield and Overwatch.
