XCOM

XCOM is a reboot of the original X-Com, created by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It’s a sci-fi video game franchise featuring an elite international organization tasked with countering alien invasion of Earth. The series began in 1994 with the strategy video game UFO: Enemy Unknown. The original franchise (developed by MicroProse) included six published games and two novelizations. The series achieved a sizable cult following and has influenced many other video games; including the creation of a number of clones, spiritual successors, and unofficial remakes. The XCOM series began in 2012 with the strategy video game XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It was a critical and commercial success, with immediately spawn an expansion, called Enemy Within, as well as a prequel, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. It consists of four installments: Sniper: Art of Victory, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, and Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3. All games are tactical shooters played from a first-person perspective. As the title might suggest, a large portion of the game consists of stealth, staking out targets and taking them out with the use of sniper rifles. As is the case with Sniper Elite, one of the game’s key elements is realistic ballistics. Bullet trajectories are subject to wind strength, gravity, breathing and flight time, all of which players must consider while taking a shot. It further adds to Sniper’s realism and immersion.
